About this study
In plain language
This study tests whether butyrate enemas can help young people with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, a disease that causes swelling and sores in the large intestine. Butyrate is a substance made by gut bacteria, and an enema puts treatment into the bowel through the bottom. The study is for people ages 7 to 21.
Butyrate is an important metabolite produced by the gut microbiome and has been shown as a helpful therapy in ulcerative colitis. This is a feasibility study to determine the efficacy of butryate enemas in pediatric ulcerative colitis.
Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.
