What to expect
No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.
What participation involves
Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.
- Compensation
- Not stated
- Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
- Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
- Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
- Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.
About this study
In plain language
This study tests chemotherapy and immunotherapy, followed by radiation, for stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that cannot be removed with surgery. Immunotherapy helps the immune system fight cancer. The study checks how safe the treatment is and how well it works.
This study is a multicenter Phase II single arm trial to assess the safety and efficacy of chemotherapy and immunotherapy followed by radiotherapy in patients with unresectable Stage III NSCLC.
Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.
Eligibility
Who can join
- You are fully active or can do light work despite some limits on hard physical activity.
- You can receive chemotherapy and radiation at the same time.
- Your study doctor or cancer care team confirms you have stage III NSCLC that cannot be removed with surgery.
- At least 1% of your tumor cells show a protein called PD-L1.
- Your cancer can be measured using the study’s rules.
- Your organs work well enough for the study.
- You have a tissue sample available with enough tumor cells (20% tumor content).
Who can't join
- You have an active disease in which your immune system attacks your body and needed immune-suppressing treatment in the past year; or you have an uncontrolled immune deficiency, including HIV.
- You take more than 10 mg of prednisone or an equal steroid dose daily before treatment, except for medicines used for supportive care.
- Your tumor has a known change in the EGFR, ALK, ROS1, MET, or RET genes.
- You have another serious health condition that prevents participation, or interstitial lung disease, which affects tissue around the lungs’ air sacs.
- You previously had chest radiation or whole-body drug treatment for stage IIIB or IV NSCLC.
- A mental health or substance use disorder would prevent you from following study requirements, or you cannot give informed consent.
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant or father a child from the time you consent through 180 days after your last study treatment.
- You have a known history of active tuberculosis (TB), active hepatitis B or C, or received a live vaccine within 30 days before enrollment.
Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.
Official eligibility criteria
Inclusion Criteria: * Patient must have a performance status of 0-1 (ECOG Performance Scale) * Patient must be a candidate for concurrent chemoradiation * Unresectable Stage III NSCLC as assessed by investigator or multidisciplinary tumor board assessment * PD-L1 tumor expression greater than or equal to 1% * Presence of measurable disease according to RECIST v1.1 * Adequate organ function * Available tissue (archival FFPE preferred) with adequate tumor content ( 20% tumor cellularity) Exclusion Criteria: * Active autoimmune disease that has requires immunosuppressive therapy in the previous year * Uncontrolled primary or acquired immunodeficiency (including HIV) * Baseline corticosteroid usage (\>10 mg prednisone or equivalent daily) aside from supportive medication use * Tumor with known EGFR, ALK, ROS1, MET or RET mutations/fusions * Presence of significant comorbidities precluding participation in a clinical study as determined by investigator * Prior thoracic radiotherapy or prior systemic treatment for stage IIIB/IV NSCLC * Has known psychiatric or substance abuse disorders that would interfere with cooperation with the requirements of the trial * Is pregnant or breastfeeding or expecting to conceive or father children within the projected duration of the trial, starting with informed consent through 180 days after the last dose of trial treatment * Has a known history of active TB (Bacillus Tuberculosis) * Has known active Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C * Has received a live vaccine within 30 days of enrollment * Known diagnosis of Interstitial Lung Disease * Inability to provide informed consent
