What to expect
No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.
What participation involves
Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.
- Compensation
- Not stated
- Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
- Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
- Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
- Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.
About this study
In plain language
This study will develop a test to predict whether colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon or rectum) will come back. The test looks at chemical marks on DNA. It is for people with high-risk stage II or stage III colorectal cancer who are cancer-free after surgery and chemotherapy.
This study will develop an assay to predict disease recurrence in patients with stage II/III CRC after receiving adjuvant chemotherapy, using genome-wide DNA methylation.
Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.
Eligibility
Who can join
- Had high-risk stage II or stage III colorectal cancer.
- Received standard tests, cancer staging, and treatment based on local guidelines.
- Had surgery meant to remove all the cancer, followed by chemotherapy.
- Are confirmed to be cancer-free when joining the study.
Who can't join
- Have not given written consent to join the study.
- Cancer came back within the first 6 months after finishing chemotherapy.
- Have an inherited condition linked to colorectal cancer, confirmed by genetic testing.
- Have inflammatory bowel disease, which causes long-term swelling in the digestive tract.
Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.
Official eligibility criteria
Inclusion Criteria: * Stage II (high-risk) or III colorectal cancer (TNM classification, 8th edition). * Received standard diagnostic, staging, and therapeutic procedures as per local guidelines * Received stage-specific curative-intent resection followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. * Confirmed cancer-free survivorship confirmed at the time of study inclusion. Exclusion Criteria: * Lack of written informed consent. * Development of recurrence in the first 6 months following adjuvant chemotherapy completion. * Hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes (identified through genetic testing) * Inflammatory bowel diseases
