What to expect
No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.
What participation involves
Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.
- Compensation
- Not stated
- Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
- Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
- Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
- Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.
About this study
In plain language
This study compares four supervised group strength-training plans for women who have been treated for breast cancer. It tests how these plans affect fitness, muscle growth, and body fat.
This study investigates the impact of four standard of care, monitored group exercise regimens (resistance training) on conditioning and hypertrophy in women previously treated for breast cancer. The study will compare two conditioning regimens (6-12-25 and 8x8) and two hypertrophy regimens (5/5/5 cluster sets and double training) to assess changes in VO2 max, muscle mass, and fat mass.
Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.
Eligibility
Who can join
- Women ages 20 to 89.
- Have been prescribed exercise as part of usual care.
- Have breast cancer confirmed by a tissue sample: DCIS (cancer within milk ducts) or invasive cancer (cancer that has spread into nearby breast tissue).
- Have had breast cancer treatment, such as surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, immune therapy, or hormone therapy.
- Are not currently receiving chemotherapy. Immune therapy or targeted cancer drugs are allowed.
- Have more than 6 months of strength-training experience guided by a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).
Who can't join
- Currently receiving cell-killing chemotherapy for breast cancer.
- The study doctor finds that group strength training would not be safe for you.
- Have severe arthritis or a joint, heart, blood vessel, muscle, or bone condition that the study doctor finds makes strength training unsafe.
