What to expect

No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.

What participation involves

Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.

Compensation
Not stated
  • Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
  • Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
  • Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
  • Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.

About this study

In plain language

This study tracks how often memory and thinking get worse in people with high or not high blood levels of a marker called P-tau217. It is for people who report no memory or thinking problems. Taking part lasts about 7 years.

Study AACU determines rates of cognitive worsening in participants within elevated and not elevated plasma P-tau217 cohorts. Participation in AACU will last approximately 7 years.

Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.

Eligibility

Who can join

  • You report that you have no memory or thinking problems.
  • You can read, see, and hear well enough to take memory and thinking tests at the screening visit.

Who can't join

  • You have seen a doctor about memory concerns.
  • You have had memory or thinking problems, or another serious disease that damages the brain or nerves and can affect thinking.
  • You are in, or have taken part in, an Alzheimer's study testing an experimental drug.
  • You use or have used prescription medicine for mild memory and thinking problems or dementia. These include lecanemab, donanemab, aducanumab, benzgalantamine, donepezil, galantamine, rivastigmine, and memantine.

Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.

Official eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria: * The participant must self-report unimpaired cognition. * The participant must have adequate literacy, vision, and hearing for neuropsychological assessments at the time of screening. Exclusion Criteria: * Have seen a doctor about memory concerns. * Have a history or diagnosis of cognitive impairment, or significant other neurodegenerative disease that can affect cognition. * Are currently enrolled or have previously participated in any Alzheimer's Disease (AD)-related study involving an investigational drug intervention. * Are currently using or have previously used prescription medications for treatment of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia such as amyloid targeting therapy (that is, lecanemab, donanemab, aducanumab), cholinesterase inhibitors (for example, benzgalantamine, donepezil, galantamine, rivastigmine), and memantine.
