What to expect
No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.
What participation involves
- Time periods mentioned: 12 months
Only what the study's summary and detailed description on ClinicalTrials.gov say. Time periods may describe the whole study or a part of it — ask the study team what applies to you.
Show the study's own words
- "The study assesses migraine outcomes over 12 months using patient-reported headache frequency, pain intensity, acute medication use, migraine-related disability (MIDAS), and quality-of-life measures (MSQ v2.1)."
- Compensation
- Not stated
- Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
- Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
- Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
- Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.
About this study
In plain language
This study tests TEMMA, a procedure that blocks targeted blood vessels in the tissue covering the brain to treat migraine. It is for adults ages 18–60 whose migraines have not improved with past medicines to prevent them. The study checks safety, whether the procedure can be done, and how migraine symptoms change over 12 months.
This single-site, open-label pilot study evaluates the safety, feasibility, and potential durability of the TEMMA procedure (Targeted Embolization for Migraine Management), an endovascular treatment strategy targeting meningeal arterial contributors to migraine. Adults aged 18-60 with refractory migraine despite prior preventive therapies are eligible. The study assesses migraine outcomes over 12 months using patient-reported headache frequency, pain intensity, acute medication use, migraine-related disability (MIDAS), and quality-of-life measures (MSQ v2.1).
Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.
Eligibility

- You are 18–60 years old.
- You have migraine, with or without aura (warning symptoms such as vision changes).
- You have headaches at least 8 days each month.
- You have tried at least 2 types of migraine prevention medicines without success.
- You can fill out an electronic headache diary and surveys.
- You can give informed consent (understand the study and agree to join).
Who can't join
- You have headaches caused by another health condition.
- You have already had MMA embolization (a procedure to block a blood vessel in the tissue covering the brain).
- You have a medical reason that prevents you from having angiography (blood vessel imaging) or embolization (blocking a blood vessel).
- You are pregnant.
- You cannot complete the required follow-up.
Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.
