What to expect
No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.
What participation involves
- Procedures mentioned: Interviews
Only what the study's summary and detailed description on ClinicalTrials.gov say. Time periods may describe the whole study or a part of it — ask the study team what applies to you.
Show the study's own words
- "GROUP 1: Patients complete a qualitative interview that informs the development of the decision support tool."
- "GROUP 2: Patients view the draft of the decision support tool and complete cognitive interviews for the refinement of the decision support tool on study."
- Compensation
- Not stated
- Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
- Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
- Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
- Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.
About this study
In plain language
This study develops and tests a tool to help people with prostate cancer decide about genetic testing for gene changes they were born with. It also looks at what affects whether people complete testing. It is for patients at Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Hospital whose cancer care provider recommended this testing.
This clinical trial identifies factors associated with completing genetic testing, aids in the development of a decision support tool, and tests how well the decision support tool works to enhance germline genetic testing in patients with prostate cancer. Germline genetic testing is a guideline-recommended standard of care for many patients with prostate cancer. Completing genetic testing can enable the use of targeted therapies, offers access to novel clinical trials, provides valuable information, and can help identify at risk family members. The decision support tool may educate patients and assist in the decision to engage with germline genetic testing.
Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.
