What to expect

No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.

What participation involves

Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.

Compensation
Not stated
  • Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
  • Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
  • Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
  • Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.

About this study

In plain language

This study tests whether long periods without food (fasting) are acceptable to adults with breast cancer that has spread who take capivasertib. Researchers also want to learn whether fasting may help the cancer treatment work better.

We hypothesize that promoting a fasting state will strengthen the anti-cancer effects of PI3K inhibitors in metastatic breast cancer (MBC) treatment. The primary objective of this study is to assess acceptability of prolonged fasting in this population.

Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.

Who can't join

  • Have type 1 diabetes or uncontrolled type 2 diabetes, with an HbA1c blood sugar test above 9.0%.
  • Have a history of very low blood sugar.

  • Have serious stomach or bowel problems that affect how the body takes in nutrients from food.
