What to expect
No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.
What participation involves
Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.
- Compensation
- Not stated
- Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
- Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
- Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
- Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.
About this study
In plain language
This study tests a new whole-body PET scanner called the Biograph Vision Quadra in adults with cancer. Researchers want to see if it gives better PET/CT pictures and more useful information than standard scanners.
The researchers are doing this study to test the capabilities of a new total-body PET scanner called the Biograph Vision Quadra. The researchers want to learn whether this scanner can produce better PET/CT images and provide more useful imaging information than standard PET/CT scanners.
Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.
Eligibility
Who can join
- You must be 18 or older. Other rules depend on which part of the study you join.
- Part 1: You must have non-small cell lung cancer confirmed by a tissue test, with one or more lung nodules (small lumps). You must have a PET/CT scan planned at MSK’s main campus.
- Part 2: You must have prostate or head and neck cancer that has spread. You must have disease in the chest, belly, or pelvis that could benefit from tracking the scan drug at all disease sites at once.
- Part 2: Your scan must be at MSK’s main campus. For prostate cancer, it must use 68Ga-PSMA or 18F-FDG. For head and neck cancer, it must use 18F-FDG. These are radioactive drugs used for scans.
- Part 3: You must have lung, head and neck, or prostate cancer confirmed by a tissue test.
- Part 3: You must have a PET/CT scan at MSK’s main campus using 68Ga-PSMA, 18F-FDG, or 18F-fluoromisonidazole, which are radioactive scan drugs.
- Part 3: You must be willing to return to the MITS clinic for more pictures 2 to 6 hours after the scan drug is injected.
- Part 4: You must have a PET/CT scan planned at MSK’s main campus using a radioactive scan drug.
Who can't join
- You have claustrophobia (fear of small or closed spaces).
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You are younger than 18.
Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.
Official eligibility criteria
Inclusion Criteria: Eligibility Criteria for objective #1: * Patients with histologically-confirmed non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) with a single or multiple lung nodules. * Patients who are undergoing a planned PET-CT scan at main campus of MSK. * Patients must be ≥ 18 years old Eligibility Criteria for objective #2: * Patients with disease within the chest, abdomen or pelvis, who could benefit from visualizing the pharmacokinetics of radiotracer uptake within all disease sites simultaneously. * Patients with metastatic prostate or head and neck cancer. * Patients with prostate cancer who are undergoing a 68Ga-PSMA or 18F-FDG scan at the main campus of MSK. * Patients with head and neck cancer who are undergoing a 18F-FDG scan at the main campus of MSK * Patients must be ≥ 18 years old Eligibility Criteria for objective #3: * Patients with histologically-confirmed cancer from all three groups (lung cancer, head and neck cancer, prostate cancer). * Patients who are undergoing an 68Ga-PSMA or 18F-FDG or an \[18F\]-fluormisonidazole PET-CT scan at the main campus of MSK. * Patients willing to return to the MITS clinc for late imaging session between 2 to 6 hours after the PET radiotracer injection. (In current practice, FDG is imaged between 1 and 1.5 hours post injection, and FMISO is imaged between 2.5 and 3 hours post injection) * Patients must be ≥ 18 years old Eligibility Criteria for objective #4: * Patients who are undergoing a planned PET-CT scan at main campus of MSK with a radiotracer * Patients must be ≥ 18 years old Exclusion Criteria: * Patients who suffer from claustrophobia. * Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding. * Patients \< 18 years of age
