What to expect
No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.
What participation involves
Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.
- Compensation
- Not stated
- Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
- Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.

About this study
In plain language
This study tests whether acupuncture helps breast cancer survivors with pain, tiredness, and sleep problems. Acupuncture uses thin needles placed in the body. The study also looks at how it may work and who may benefit most.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect, mediators and predictors of treatment response of acupuncture in treating the psychoneurological symptom cluster (pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance) among breast cancer survivors.
Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.
Eligibility
Who can join
- Age 18 or older.
- Have stage 0–III breast cancer confirmed by a tissue test. The cancer must be ER/PR-positive (sensitive to hormones) and HER2-negative (without high levels of a protein called HER2).
- Currently taking hormone treatment to help keep breast cancer from coming back.
- Finished main cancer treatment, such as surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy, at least 3 months before joining.
- Have never had acupuncture.
- Reported pain, tiredness, and sleep problems in the past month. At least 2 of these must have an average severity of 3 or higher on a 0–10 scale.
Who can't join
- Taking methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) or glutathione supplements.
- Unable to complete study steps because of physical problems or problems with thinking or understanding.
- Pregnant.
Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.
