Other requirements are listed under Eligibility below. Only the study team can confirm whether you can join.
What to expect
No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.
What participation involves
Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.
- Compensation
- Not stated
- Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
- Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
- Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
- Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.
About this study
In plain language
This study looks at whether treating problems with how the body uses energy can improve blood flow in the lungs and the effects of PAH. PAH is high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. The study is for people with certain types of PAH and their family members.
Our hypothesis is that optimal treatment of the dysfunctional metabolic pathways which underlie PAH will improve pulmonary vascular function and consequences of the disease.
Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.
Eligibility
Who can join
- All projects: People with PAH that has no known cause, is passed down in families, or is linked to another condition, and family members of people with PAH.
- Project 1: Ages 0–90. For a skin biopsy, which removes a small skin sample, ages 12–90.
- Project 2: Ages 0–90 are listed for joining, but this age range is also listed as a reason not to join. Ask the study team to clarify.
- Project 2: You must be able to reach the clinic fairly easily for blood draws and other tests.
- Project 2: You must be able to go without food before sample collection and EndoPAT testing, which checks how well blood vessels work.
- Project 3: Ages 7–90.
Who can't join
- All projects: A diagnosis other than the listed PAH types is listed as a reason not to join.
- Project 1: Older than 90. For a skin biopsy, younger than 12 or older than 90.
- Project 2: Ages 0–90 are also listed as excluded, which conflicts with the joining rules. Ask the study team to clarify.
- Project 2: Trouble reaching the clinic for blood draws and other tests.
- Project 2: Unable to go without food before testing.
- Project 3: Younger than 7 or older than 90.
Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.
