What to expect

No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.

What participation involves

Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.

Compensation
Not stated
  • Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
  • Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
  • Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
  • Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.

About this study

In plain language

This study tests how well losartan works and how it works in people with coarctation of the aorta, a narrowing of the main artery that carries blood from the heart. It is for adults who have had surgery or another procedure to repair this narrowing.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and mechanism of action of Losartan in the treatment of coarctation of aorta.

Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.

Eligibility

Who can join

  • Be age 18 or older.
  • Have had a repair for coarctation of the aorta.
  • Have B/S1 high blood pressure. The listing does not explain what “B/S1” means.
  • Have an average top blood pressure number of 100–139, based on 3 readings at a medical office.

Who can't join

  • Currently take a beta blocker, a medicine that slows the heart and lowers blood pressure.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Have an eGFR below 30, a test result showing how well your kidneys filter blood.
  • Have a blood potassium level above 5.5 mmol/L.
  • Have severe narrowing or leaking of the aortic or mitral heart valve.
  • Have been diagnosed with disease in the arteries on the surface of the heart.
  • Have taken medicine to lower blood pressure within the past year.

Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.
