What to expect

No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.

What participation involves

Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.

Compensation
Not stated
  • Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
  • Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
  • Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
  • Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.

About this study

In plain language

This study tests BMS-986528 in adults with rheumatoid arthritis that is hard to treat. It looks at safety, how well people tolerate the drug, how the drug moves through and affects the body, and early signs that it may change the course of the disease.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacodynamics (PD), and the preliminary evidence of disease-modifying effect of BMS-986528 in participants with refractory, difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.

Eligibility

Who can join

  • Adults with rheumatoid arthritis who meet the study's definition of hard-to-treat disease.

Who can't join

  • Arthritis that began in childhood, or arthritis with swelling that began before age 18.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis without certain markers in the blood, if doctors have not ruled out polymyalgia rheumatica, a condition that causes muscle pain and stiffness.
  • Active fibromyalgia, a condition that causes widespread pain, with symptoms or signs that would make it hard to check the joints.
  • Other study rules for who can or cannot join also apply.

Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.

Official eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria \- Adult participants with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who meet definition of difficult-to-treat. Exclusion Criteria * Juvenile arthritis or onset of inflammatory arthritis before age 18. * Seronegative RA participants in whom polymyalgia rheumatica has not been ruled out. * Active fibromyalgia with pain symptoms or signs that would interfere with joint assessment. * Other protocol-defined Inclusion/Exclusion criteria apply.
