What to expect

No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.

What participation involves

Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.

Compensation
Not stated
  • Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
  • Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
  • Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
  • Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.

About this study

In plain language

This study tests how well petrelintide works for weight control and how safe it is compared with a placebo, which has no active drug. Both groups will eat fewer calories and be more physically active. It is for people with overweight or obesity and at least one weight-related health problem, but without type 2 diabetes.

This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of petrelintide compared with placebo, in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, for weight management in participants living with overweight or obesity, at least one weight-related comorbidity, and without Type 2 Diabetes (T2D).

Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.

Eligibility

Who can join

  • Have a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher with at least one weight-related health problem. BMI is a measure of weight compared with height.
  • Report at least one past attempt to lose weight through diet that did not work.

Who can't join

  • Have an HbA1c result of 6.5% (48 mmol/mol) or higher on the study's screening blood test. This test measures average blood sugar.
  • Have a known history of type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
  • Use now, or have used before, petrelintide or another amylin analog—a drug that acts like the hormone amylin.

Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.
