What to expect

No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.

What participation involves

Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.

Compensation
Not stated
  • Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
  • Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
  • Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
  • Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.

About this study

In plain language

This study tests how well KarXT plus KarX-EC works over time and how safe it is. It is for people with agitation linked to Alzheimer's disease who finished one of two earlier studies. Agitation can include restlessness or upset behavior.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of combined formulation of xanomeline tartrate/trospium chloride in an immediate release (IR) capsule (KarXT) and xanomeline enteric capsules (KarX-EC) in participants with agitation associated with Alzheimer's Disease who completed the parent studies CN012-0023 or CN012-0024.

Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.

Eligibility

Who can join

  • You must have finished study CN012-0023 or CN012-0024 as required by that study's rules.
  • You must have a caregiver who has enough contact with you—about 8 hours each week.

Who can't join

  • You cannot have a serious health problem that the study doctor thinks could make the study unsafe for you or affect its results. This includes problems with the heart, lungs, kidneys, blood, digestion, hormones, immune system, skin, brain or nerves, or cancer.
  • Other study rules for who can or cannot join also apply.

Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.
