What to expect

No one can promise a trial will help you personally — that is what the research is trying to find out.

What participation involves

Not stated in the study description — ask the study team about visits and procedures.

Compensation
Not stated
  • Study-related exams and procedures are typically provided at no cost. This is how many trials work in general — confirm the details for this study with the study team.
  • Participants are monitored closely by the research team throughout the study.
  • Some participants may receive access to an investigational treatment, which is still being studied.
  • Your participation helps researchers learn whether this approach could help future patients.

About this study

In plain language

This study tests how well different doses of NNC0662-0419 lower blood sugar and how safe they are for people with type 2 diabetes. By chance, participants will get this new medicine, semaglutide (an approved diabetes medicine), or a placebo (a treatment with no active medicine).

This study is being done to look at the effect and safety of different doses of NNC0662-0419 in people living with type 2 diabetes when compared to placebo or semaglutide. The purpose of this clinical study is to find out if NNC0662-0419 is effective and safe for treating people living with type 2 diabetes. Participants will get either NNC0662-0419, semaglutide or placebo. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. NNC0662-0419 is a new medicine which cannot be prescribed by doctors but has previously been tested in humans. Semaglutide is an approved medication to treat type 2 diabetes.

Compensation is read from the study's own description and may be missing — always confirm with the study team.

Eligibility

Who can join

  • Male or female sex at birth.
  • Age 18 to 75 when signing the consent form.
  • HbA1c, a blood test showing average blood sugar, of 7.0% to 10.0% at screening.
  • Willing to lose more than 25% of your starting body weight.

Who can't join

  • Used diabetes or weight-loss medicine within 90 days before screening, unless allowed by the study. The provided inclusion list does not name allowed medicines. Insulin use for up to 14 days in a row, or past insulin use for diabetes during pregnancy, is allowed.
  • Uncontrolled diabetes-related damage to the back of the eye that may be unstable. The eye exam requires drops to widen the pupils unless a special camera is used.
  • Not noticing when your blood sugar is low, as judged by the study doctor using a questionnaire.

Simplified for readability. The official criteria below are what the study team uses.

Official eligibility criteria

Inclusion criteria * Male or female (sex at birth). * Age 18-75 years (both inclusive) at the time of signing the informed consent. * Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) of 7.0-10.0 percent (%) (53-86 millimoles per mole \[mmol/mol\]) (both inclusive) as assessed by central laboratory at screening. * Willingness to obtain a high weight loss (greater than \[\>\] 25% of weight at baseline). Exclusion criteria * Treatment with any medication for the indication of diabetes or obesity other than stated in the inclusion criteria within 90 days before screening. However, short term insulin treatment for a maximum of 14 consecutive days and prior insulin treatment for gestational diabetes are allowed. * Uncontrolled and potentially unstable diabetic retinopathy or maculopathy. Pharmacological pupil-dilation is a requirement unless using a digital fundus photography camera specified for non-dilated examination. * Known hypoglycaemic unawareness as indicated by the investigator according to Clarke's Questionnaire.
